Coach Robinson had the privilege to continue running in college under the legendary coach, Harry Groves, and trained with national record holders Greg Fredricks and George Malley. An average high school and college runner (10:17 high school two mile PR), Robinson began seeing major improvement when he began to apply the principles of periodization in his training after college, ultimately running track and road bests of: 4:06 mile, 14:52 5K, 23:44 8K, and 2:35.29 marathon.
