LCC Account Passwords
Periodic password change is a needed step in protecting your own information and possibly the information of others. Passwords are the common method of accessing all the systems at the college and the protection of that password is important for safeguarding your Identity and personal information.
Everyone must activate their account and set their Challenge questions through a process called "Claim my account". This is a onetime process and is a way to set your initial account password. If you have had your account for many years, you will still need to activate your account as the new Identity Management System does not have all the information it needs to allow for password changes. Once you have claimed/activated your account you can use the normal "Change my password" or "Forgot my password" links to manage your password.
The password that is associated with your Technology UserID or TUID is the same for accessing the computers on campus, the Star Port portal, your email account, Angel course management and remote library databases. Employees will see other applications that the password does not change automatically for them. If your password is compromised, a hacker would have access to information and personal emails that most people would not like to have happen.
To activate your account or change your password, you will need to follow the link that you will find on the Star Port Login page. The password policy gives you the requirements for password change frequency and password strength
The changing of passwords is not always instantaneous. The Changes to your Star Port portal, Angel, Employee Email and Active Directory (Computer) account should happen in real time. The change to your Student Email account is done in batches and may take a day to be complete.
