Supporting Student Success

The mission of K-12 Relations is to support student recruitment, success, and retention by providing postsecondary education and career preparation (workforce development) options. The vision is to make the transition from high school to college a seamless and rewarding process that exceeds student expectations.

K-12 Relations Programs

High School Articulation

Articulation is a term used to describe the process that facilitates the transition of a student from one educational institution to another or from one level of education to the next with minimal duplication of coursework. When referring to articulation from high school (secondary) to college (post-secondary), we refer to this as Free College Credit.

High School Diploma Completion Initiative

High School Diploma Completion Initiative (HSDCI) is a unique opportunity for mid-Michigan students who have disconnected from their high school to jump-start their education and career preparation. The academic programs at HSDCI are designed for high school students who have disconnected from school and wish to complete their high school diploma and begin their college education and career training.

H.O.P.E. Scholarship

The H.O.P.E. Scholarship Program offers Lansing School District youth an opportunity for a college education and a brighter future. Students are initiated into the program as sixth graders and promise to finish high school in exchange for two years of free tuition at Lansing Community College. The students are chosen by their school based on their ability to benefit from the program.

Technical Preparation

Tech-Prep is a program that provides assistance to states to award grants to consortia of local education agencies and postsecondary education institutions for the development and operation of programs consisting of the last two years of secondary education and at least two years of postsecondary education.

Early College

The Early College @ LCC
The Early College will provide mid-Michigan high school student the opportunity to earn up to two years of college credit or an associate degree - over the course of three years - as a part of their high school learning experience.

GATE

Gifted and Talented Education
GATE is an enrichment program that offers classes in the arts, science and technology to students who have demonstrated outstanding academic ability in a particular subject area.

A+ Summer College
The A+ Summer Camp program offers a wide range of student-centered learning opportunities that are designed to incorporate hands-on, minds-on activities for children entering 2nd through 8th grades in the fall.

Science Youth Programs
Lansing Community College's Science Department K-12 science programs are very rewarding, fun and exciting for students, parents, and teachers. Students can choose from many activities, focusing on math and all science disciplines.
