Business & Community - Dr. Marcy Street
Board Certified Dermatologist CEO of Doctor's Approach Skin & Hair Care
"Lansing Community College" - that says it all. Being active in the community is what LCC does, and the college has so many resources they share with people like me who want to start a business.
When you hear someone talking about LCC, of course you think of students in a classroom. But there's even more at the college than just that traditional learning. Through its Small Business and Technology Center, LCC has a tremendous networking capability. A counselor at the Center listened to everything I wanted to do, and then helped me - through the entire process. I gleaned business information, got sources, ideas, mentors, and encouragement. I needed a business plan - I got help in writing it, tweaking it, referring to it, rewriting it He brought in resources and made phone calls to other people in the community for me.
And now this Doctor's Approach Dermatology clinic is growing. We're adding new providers, physicians, and medical and physician assistants. We're specializing in things like skin cancer treatment. And we're incorporating a holistic approach to skin care, including a successful new line of skin and hair products. It's important to me to share in any way I can information about skin care, to teach people about healthy skin and wellness, so that hopefully I won't have to see them as a Mohs surgeon who has to remove their skin cancer. Because LCC shared information with me, I'm now more and more able to share my own information with patients and others.
