General Transfer Information
There are two types of transfer programs for which a student may prepare at Lansing Community College. They include traditional transfer and non-traditional transfer.
Students planning on transferring to a four-year institution should be aware that universities and colleges differ widely in the courses they accept for transfer. In order to achieve maximum transferability of course work, students should consult an academic advisor or counselor with the Counseling and Advising Center, Suite 204, Gannon Building (GB).
In addition, students intending to transfer should follow the transfer guide designed specifically for the major and the institution in which they intend to enroll. Students should understand that transfer guides are not LCC degree guides. Students intending to earn an LCC degree prior to transferring should consult an academic advisor or counselor.
Transfer guides are available for many, but not all, possible transfer programs. Students are encouraged to contact the Admissions Office at the transfer institution of interest if there is not a transfer guide available for a preferred major or institution. It is the student's responsibility when transferring from LCC to be aware of the transfer institution's policies and program requirements. Transfer guides and additional transfer information may be obtained online, or by contacting:

Traditional Transfer Programs
Traditional transfer programs contain a set of prescribed requirements that are completed at LCC then followed by completion of the degree at the home campus of the transfer institution. Some universities, such as Central Michigan University and Western Michigan University, offer traditional transfer programs locally for students working full-time. There are 535+ transfer guides for traditional majors that transfer to Michigan's four-year colleges and universities. Check out the transfer equivalency list to see how LCC courses transfer.
Non-Traditional Transfer Programs:
Two-Plus-Two (2+2) transfer programs are those in which technical, business, or health science associate degrees are completed first, followed by transfer with subsequent completion of prescribed requirements at the transfer institution. Some institutions offer programs at a satellite campus.

Three-Plus-One (3+1) are transfer programs in which three years are spent taking LCC courses followed by transfer and completion of the final year of a four-year program. The number of majors available and colleges offering three-plus-one plans are limited. Check 3+1 Transfer Programs for the listing of available transfer opportunities.
Two-Plus-Two-Plus-Two (2+2+2)
The Lansing School District, Lansing Community College, and Michigan State University offer the 2+2+2 Engineering Program for high school students who are interested in pursuing an engineering degree and have demonstrated personal commitment and academic ability. Check the 2+2+2 Engineering page for more information about the program.

Transfer guides are available online. Because programs vary from one college to another, it is vital that transfer programs be planned in advance. Students are encouraged to consult with an LCC advisor or counselor regarding your transfer plans. Contact CAC at (517) 483-1904, (TTY) (517) 483-1207, or drop by the Counseling and Advising Center, located in room 204 of the Gannon Building. |
